Collection contains three scrapbooks consisting of news clippings, many referring to Suffolk County and the Catskill area of New York State, 1880s-1890s. Five notebooks contain notes such as excerpts from town records, descriptions or impressions of some locales, diary entries, and genealogical information. Notes refer to Long Island, specifically Brookhaven in Suffolk County, late 19th century. Collection also includes an account book of purchases made by the Bayles' household, ca. 1909-1919, as well as an account book of payments received and made for services, ca. 1874. Some diary listings are included, 1874. In addition, there are three manuscripts about whale fishing and genealogical information of Long Island.
